The SOLIDWORKS® team is excited to announce the upcoming release of our browser-based and cloud-connected SOLIDWORKS roles. The R2023x FD03 release, which came out on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, features significant enhancements helping customers to simplify workflows and improve productivity.

This new release brings significant improvements to the SOLIDWORKS roles in the 3DEXPERIENCE® Works portfolio. Below is just a small selection of the most notable enhancements.

SOLIDWORKS Browser-based Roles

• 3D Creator: Access recent content and launch specific search queries in 3DSearch with the new Open From command. Optimize your graphics performance and accelerate client-side interactions by leveraging GPU reporting in the System Status command. Quickly identify the lock status of components with intuitive lock status icons in the Design Manager. Accelerate your design analysis with the ability to measure visual geometry with unresolved or missing feature data. Quickly identify and repair dangling sketch planes with the edit sketch plane shortcut. Easily identify and select reference planes directly from the graphics area with automatic reference plane resizing. Organize, manage, and share imported content by leveraging bookmark selection control from the import dialog. Boost your workflow efficiency with the ability to import and insert geometry from 3DDrive or insert geometry via drag and drop from 3DSearch. Easily identify problem areas and troubleshoot failed thicken features with visual feedback. Evaluate environmental impacts and compare the sustainability of design alternatives with Eco-Design Engineer. Create lighter and stronger parts optimized for 3D printing with Lattice Designer. Automatically add internal sketch dimensions with Sketch Helper. Take advantage of the improved performance of the Split & Combine features. Enjoy faster import times, seamless launching of feature edits, smoother sketching, quicker component saving, and accelerated loading.
• 3D Sculptor: Eliminate unnecessary mouse travel by using hotkeys to change cage visibility settings. Focus on the sub-division geometry you're editing with the ability to create a section view while editing a subdivision feature. Get a clear visual cue that Symmetry mode is active with the Symmetry coin button. You can also quickly exit Symmetry mode by simply clicking on the Symmetry coin button. With geometric set colors now visible in edit mode, you can see a true representation of your model in real-time.
• 3D SheetMetal Creator: Design with intent, using new “up to vertex” end condition for Wall on Edge and other flange commands. New end condition allows you to easily reference other geometry for rapid updates and design changes.
• 3D Structure Creator: Ensure your designs are compliant with your supply chain by using JIS standard structure members.
• 3D Mold Creator: Speed up the creation of mold cores, cavities, and inserts, and ensure no changes are made to the design part with the ability to drag and drop parts directly into the mold for use as reference geometry.
• Manufacturing Definition Creator: Fully detail your welded structures and prepare them for manufacturing with a new cutlist table type for both 3D and 2D definition. Eliminate costly errors and manual effort when creating tables thanks to xDrawing automatically generating cutlists to communicate key manufacturing information that always remains up to date with design. Quickly populate drawing views on a 2D sheet and reduce repetitive steps with automatic view scaling. Customize your drawing with ease. New grid view helps you easily identify and find symbols, modifiers, and more.

SOLIDWORKS Cloud-connected Roles

• 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Premium, Professional, and Standard, and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS: Easily share your designs without leaving SOLIDWORKS. Recipients can access the shared files in a browser by using their 3DEXPERIENCE ID to access the content. Enable administrators to manage centrally the SOLIDWORKS resources on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for their teams even if their teams are not on the same network. Enjoy the flexibility to set appropriate titles to objects from the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box. Save data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform directly from within SOLIDWORKS using the Save to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box. Quickly and conveniently change the collaborative space where you save on the platform from the ‘Save to 3DEXPERIENCE’ dialog box. The Open dialog box now hosts more information in a simplified layout. The dialog box displays more detailed information when asynchronous save is running. Launch 3DDrive in SOLIDWORKS by dragging and dropping models from MySession, with no need to install the 3DEXPERIENCE Sync Client. Launch 3DDrive in SOLIDWORKS by dragging and dropping models from MySession, with no need to install the 3DEXPERIENCE Sync Client. You can now enable and disable offline mode without closing open documents with the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS roles.
• 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Mechanical: Easily control how entities on inactive layers or locked layer groups appear on the drawing area.  
• 3D Motion Creator: Reduce model setup errors by intuitively understanding the impact of joint definition through joint direct solve and animation. Speed up model creation by automatically creating markers from axis systems. Easily set up system excitations based on 2D sketches by defining sketched-based functions. Enable quick and robust definition of model excitation (applied load or driver) based on big data sets using function from file. Quickly gain a model status overview through an automatically updated display of model degrees of freedom. Enable advanced post processing by exporting all results of motion probes in *.CSV file format.
