The SOLIDWORKS team is excited to announce the release of our cloud-native and cloud-connected SOLIDWORKS roles. The R2022x FD02 release on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, features significant enhancements helping customers to simplify workflows and improve productivity.

Key Enhancements

This new release brings significant improvements to the SOLIDWORKS roles on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Below is just a small selection of the most notable enhancements.

CLOUD-NATIVE (Browser-Based) Roles

• Save time creating dashboards and enjoy greater flexibility on how you get started in 3D Creator by specifying which dashboard tab to open Physical Products on. 
• Make subdivision geometry selection faster and easier by enabling users to create a custom selection based on a sketched loop or "lasso" in 3D Sculptor. 
• Improve design efficiency with new instant drag capabilities in 3D SheetMetal Creator, streamlining the transition from sketch to feature.
• Streamline design workflows with the ability to assign default materials to a user-defined profile in 3D structure Creator. 
• Create mold inserts that share a common profile faster by creating multiple inserts from a single sketch in 3D Mold Creator. 
• Define drawing sheets with new capabilities for custom title blocks in Manufacturing Definition Creator.

CLOUD-CONNECTED Roles

• Ensure that drawings are only released when all of their dependents are at the same release maturity state through improved lifecycle workflow in 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Standard, Professional, and Premium. Exchange SOLIDWORKS data as a package with SOLIDWORKS external suppliers who do not use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Visualize the flexible assembly components' movements via 3DEXPERIENCE platform authoring apps (e.g. xDesign, xShape, etc.). View the file status on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and perform lock/unlock, Replace by Revision to the file directly from FeatureManager Design Tree. When creating a new revision, the newer revision will automatically replace the earlier revision in MySession. Share your SOLIDWORKS design to 3DSwym communities and receive feedback. Perform multiple tasks on your SOLIDWORKS data via SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler. Download the derived outputs in a single operation as a zip file instead of downloading each derived output individually. 
• Simplify data migration and speed up onboarding and deployment with a new batch upload tool in 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Premium.
• Create and access new electrical designs on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform more easily with enhanced user experience in Electrical Schematic Designer. 
• Quickly identify components in the 3D view by selecting motion entities from the tree in 3D Motion Creator.
• Exchange data with your suppliers and partners directly from within SOLIDWORKS by using Packages in Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS. Utilize flexible components in the structure and visualize them in authoring apps such as 3D Creator, 3D Sculptor, etc. A new maturity transition rule is now available to block drawing transition if its referenced components are not in the targeted maturity state. View and change the lifecycle status as well as perform key operations like lock/unlock, Replace by Revision, etc. from Feature Tree. Update revisions efficiently with a new option allowing a new revision to automatically replace the current revision. Perform an auto name and copy the name to the Title attribute ensuring the original file name is not changed. Share designs to 3DSwym communities from within SOLIDWORKS. Use and manage SOLIDWORKS Templates from Product Structure Editor. .prtdot, .asmdot, and .drwdot are now available when you create a new part, product, or drawing.
