Department of Energy’s Supertruck2 Program is a partnership with truck manufactures and suppliers to improve freight efficiency by 100%. The need for aggressive aerodynamic improvement, a short timeline and zero prototyping were few of the challenges set forth by the project. Hence a MODSIM approach to design the truck virtually proved to be ideal solution.

This presentation will cover multiple aspects of the aerodynamic development of supertruck2 in a fully virtual environment using PowerFLOW. Iterative design of a sub-system, as well as optimization of add-on devices with focus on complete vehicle aerodynamics will be presented.
