Modeling and Simulation of Complex Systems for Virtual Commissioning of Manufacturing Processes
Virtual Commissioning is an economical method to validate and verify design of a manufacturing process before and during operation. 1D simulation tools predict behavior of a system under variant environmental and working conditions. Co-simulation of 1D and 3D models can provide an economical method to simulate very large systems in an efficient timeframe.
This presentation describes a methodology that simulates very large mechatronics models in real-time with complex programmable logic controller (PLC) based control systems. The proposed method is based on the Modelica that simulates dynamic behavior of the system and implements it to the ControlBuild software that directly controls PLCs. This platform can provide digital continuity from CAD design, requirements, functional and logical models in systems architecture to the real PLC system that controls an industrial machine.
