The migration of existing data is one of the major challenges faced when replacing PLM systems with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. It is not only the transfer of individual parts, BOMs and documents, but also complex product structures and linked information to 3DEXPERIENCE. There is the need to check the types, scope and dependencies of the source data before it is mapped and transferred. Not to forget the users, who also to be transferred from the old to the new world. Planning, covering and processing of all these aspects ensures that the migration to 3DEXPERIENCE runs successfully and the information is provided in 3DEXPERIENCE with a high level of quality.
This presentation highlights how customers can take a highly flexible approach to migrate data to 3DEXPERIENCE. PROSTEPs OpenPDM MIGRATE solution supports different migration strategies – from big-bang migration to incremental migration through to the temporary coexistence of the old and new systems. The data can be structured flexibly according to product, project, history or other criteria for migration.
