In the growing development of digital twins in our industries, a corner stone of that development is the capability to reliably model and design products by ensuring their validity traceability. The reliability of digital modeling depends on the capacity of simulating accurately real world conditions for the designs that are developed and modeled. In this introduction, we will provide an overview of how modelling is evolving as well as how the systematic use of simulation in combination with modelling in supporting both physical validation and early design decisions are shaping the potential gains in product development cost reductions.
