The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab was visited by esteemed members of the Bhutanese government couple of years ago. For those of you who don't know, Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS set up a Fab Lab in Bhutan 5 years ago in collaboration with MIT to help local makers learn global tools of Digital Fabrication.
We are helping the Kingdom of Bhutan build a super lab that will enable the next generation of entrepreneurs in the country that measures Gross National Happiness instead of GDP. I had the pleasure of throwing something quickly on paper to celebrate the connection between the pristine beauty of Bhutan (I hail from The Himalayas myself :)), technical excellence of MIT and the state-of-the-art 3D technology support enabled by Dassault Systemes and, in particular, the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab. Thought it would make for an interesting share on this community.
It's not made in 3D per se but well...you get the point :) Happy Holidays!
We made this memento on our Trotec Laser that 'connects' Boston Skyline to the silhouettes of the iconic Taktsang Palphug Monastery perched in the upper Paro valley in Bhutan. We wanted to thank the CEO of Performance Management of the Kingdom of Bhutan for making an effort to bring Boston closer to Bhutan through this visit.
Now, who won't want to visit Bhutan and spend some time in the lap of the Mighty Himalayas. Well, the next Fab event (Fab17) is being planned in Bhutan and we will be playing a vital role in the organization of the event, as usual.
