Mahogany Dining Table - From Design to Dining Room

Dear Makers, 

I just wanted to share with you all woodworking aficionados​​​​​​​ one of my latest projects: My Dining Table.

I moved 4 years ago from France to the US and I had the opportunity to buy a house. After months of research (Online and in Furniture Stores) for the perfect Dining Table, I came to the conclusion that the best would be to design and build it.

Here is the result:

Storyboard

Base

  • Started with Rough Lumber:

  • Jointed and Edge and a Face:

  • Chop Chop Chop

  • Mitered Corners, added Floating Tenons, cut, adjusted and assembled the Stretchers to the Legs:

  • Finished with OSMO PolyX:

Table Top

  • Started with Rough Lumber too: jointed, planned. ripped, etc.
  • Assembled with Dowels (I don't have a Domino, LOL)

  • 2 Halves of 48" x 48: x 2":

  • Beveled by Hand all around:
