I modeled a tubular spaceframe chassis for a single‐seater racing car using SOLIDWORKS Weldments and 3D Sketch. By defining critical load paths in a 3D sketch, I optimized tube placement and cross‐section profiles for stiffness without excess weight.
Custom weldment profiles, gussets, and mounting plates were added at suspension and powertrain interfaces, with stress and fatigue considerations guiding joint reinforcement. The final model includes a complete cut list and BOM, streamlining the transition from CAD to fabrication.
I welcome feedback on joint detailing, material selection, or workflow tips from fellow 3DEXPERIENCE users.
