Gumball Machine in progress...

Hi Makers!

My name is Ivy, and I'm an intern at the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab this summer! I've been working on a gumball machine for visitors who’d like to take home some Lab merch. I designed the machine in SOLIDWORKS and exported each individual wooden piece, with tabs and slots, as DXFs.

I’ve completed a prototype using the laser cutter, which revealed several issues I need to address:

  • What’s the best way to refill the capsules?
  • Would a thicker wood material work better?
  • How should the clear acrylic window be attached?

I’ve also designed the Lab capsules, which are 3D printed using the AMS on the Bambu printers. The Lab logos are extruded in white filament onto the blue capsules. I’m planning to include mostly keychains inside, but I’d love to know what would excite people to find in the capsules.

Feel free to throw me ideas on anything and stay tuned for the finished product!
