2nd boring, but necessary 3D Print project

A couple months ago while locking a sliding door in my house, I felt a snag. I, nevertheless, continued to try to lock the door. I was finally able to put the handle in the locked position, but to my surprise the door didn’t lock.

I took the door apart and discovered the cause which was a broken piece of the lock.

I then called several repair companies, and was told that they didn’t know where I could find the nonstandard broken piece. I would need to replace the whole sliding door!

But working for 3DS, and I remembered that we have a 3D Printing lab. Could I just scan the broken piece, touch it up, and then “print” it?

Looking forward to finding out. I will update everyone on how I make out…
