Update to V1.3.3

Last week we updated 3DByMe production version to 1.3.3 👍

We have added some new features and enhancements which I've outlined below. Please give it a try and share any feedback here in this community 🙏

New Features & Enhancements

Overview

  • Custom wood sizing 📏
  • New wood varieties 🪵
  • Furniture hardware 🚪
  • Plan improvements 🪑
  • Snapping/Join behaviour enhancements 🪛
  • Cut tool enhancements 🪚

Custom wood sizes & new wood Varieties

We know that the standard lumber sizing in the shop was not expansive enough to cover all options available in stores and in some locations. As such we have added a custom timber option which allows you to add wood in a variety of species and custom sizing to suit your specific project needs. So whether you want to build a pine bench for the garden or a mahogany coffee table for your lounge, we have you covered.

Furniture Hardware

We have started to refine the content available in the retail section of the stop, and in 1.3 we have added a selection of handles and coat hooks that will complement a variety of DIY furniture styles. We will be adding more in the coming weeks to help with projects users may have whether thats a new bathroom vanity closet or some bike storage for the garden.

Plan Improvements

3DByMe plans have been enhanced with a clean new UI and features including step grouping and reordering. We have also improved thumbnail visuals and support editing of steps to control what is and isn't shown as active. It is now much easier to refine your plans and play about with the build sequence before you cut or join any wood. Simply go into the plans and group steps together or drag to reorder them which will automatically update the step thumbnails.

Snap feedback (contact faces)

Sometimes it was hard to know if two pieces were connected or not. In 1.3 we have added feedback so you will always know when faces are touching and a joint will be created.

Snap feedback (midpoint snap)

You can now snap to the centre of material which makes it easier to position with more precision.

Cut tool Improvements

We knew in our initial version we were lacking some feedback and precision, so in 1.3 we have added visual alignment in the cut tool and improved numerical feedback so you can cut to precise values easier and reliably. Just tap on the cut icon to move by a single increment for precision.

You can now also snap to angles which makes cutting and aligning angled faces a much simpler process.
