Structures

A core goal for MakeByMe is to help anyone create and build regardless of their design or DIY/Woodwork experience. With 1.6.1 we've added new content that helps users to get started quickly and easily by offering them dynamic resizable furniture structures. They can be used as a starting point to create sideboards, cabinets, bookcases, picture frames, planters and lots more. Just choose a structure, resize to the overall dimensions you want and add to your project. Add multiple structures and snap together to quickly build a TV console or some kitchen units. We will be adding additional structure in future releases and improving snapping and resizing during creation.

Hinges

We've been working hard behind the scenes for the past few releases to get smart hardware ready to release. In 1.6.1 we are pleased to announce hinges are available. Simply select the item you want to open/close, choose where you want it to hinge about and simple apply. You are now free to animate the hinged item, and all corresponding data (hinge size/qty/placement, step details and hardware needed) is automatically applied to your design and plans 🪄

More material

Lots of home DIY projects use wood but plenty also use other materials such as bricks, stone, metal, glass and plastic. In 1.6.1 we have added OSB boards and bricks / concrete blocks so you can now create things such as this brick barbecue below. In 1.7 more materials will be coming to expand the creative making possibilites.

We also added additional retail products such as wheels, furniture legs and brackets. 

Refinement and Quality

We've also squeezed quite a few smaller changes;

• Styling improvements for dimensions, including leader lines/points
• Added to our tutorial video content
• Improved our UI backend to support new UI changes in 1.7
• UI improvements to shop 
• Fixed a selection of small quality issues
