We are excited to share a new Surpac tip. This tip is useful for mining professionals who have a drillhole database that is displayed with cylinders. Follow the steps below to create the cylinders in a 3D PDF format.
Steps to create drillholes with cylinders in 3D
1. Create a plane for the section you want to export.
2. Display the holes for this area/section
3. Planes>save section to string file
4. Open up the string file to make sure it covers the correct area
5. Delete the strings that are not required in the cylinders
6. Save the string file with a filter for each cylinder size.
7. Create a profile string centred on 0, for each cylinder size. In this example, we have three different sizes, each in their string file.
8. Run the following macro. Contact @KF for support with the macro.
9. Select the string to process and the corresponding profile string.
10. All the drillholes traces will be turned into a solid.
11. Save the file as an sdm file.
12. Repeat that for the rest of the drillhole traces with the different cylinder sizes.
13. Open up the dtm’s and display with the drillholes
14. Export to 3D PDF
15. Open up the file and validate the results.
NOTE: you may need to adjust the lighting in Surpac when the screen is exported as a 3D PDF.
We hope you found this tip helpful. For more information, contact @KF or @AC.
