About the Panellist - Carlos TAPIA

Senior mining engineer, academic, and researcher with over 20 years of practical experience in production, planning, consulting engineering, technology, market intelligence, Off-Earth mining, and telecommunication environments.

Carlos holds a PhD in Mining Engineer – Mineral Economics from UNSW Sydney specialising in mineral commodity prices forecasting, market behaviour and the industrial use of AI, Machine Learning and Stream Data Mining in mining with special focus on digitalisation, automation, optimisation, forecasting and pattern recognition.

The Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research (ACSER), the UNSW School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering, and Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth (AROSE) are proud to host OEMF-W 2023 proudly supported by Fleet Space Technologies at the Deloitte offices in Perth. This is a one-of-a-kind event for individuals interested in the increasing overlap between in the space and mining industries. As we embark on a new era of space exploration, the mining industry is poised to play a critical role in shaping the future of space technology. Speakers will share their experiences, insights, and perspectives on Planetary Science and Geology, Mining Technology and Equipment, Robotics, Automation and Swarms, Legal and Regulatory frameworks, Sustainability and Ethics, Commercialisation of Space including business modelling, Industry Differences and Commonalities, Current Missions, Start-ups and SMEs, and more.

Although this is the sixth iteration of the conference, which has previously been highly focussed technically, this year is different.
