As a prominent brand in the mining software space, GEOVIA recognizes the crucial role we play in shaping the future of our planet. Earth Day is a reminder of our responsibility to protect our natural resources and ensure sustainable development for generations to come.
At Dassault Systèmes, we firmly believe that sustainability is both a necessity and a shared responsibility. It is at the core of everything we do, and we are committed to doing our part in protecting our planet. That is why, in honor of Earth Day, we have dedicated the month of April to our sustainability commitment and initiatives.

Speaking of Energy Efficiency - make a difference by taking action on your data!
- From a sustainability perspective, it is important to pay attention to the data we use, especially when it comes to emails. Emails are often overlooked as a significant contributor to our carbon footprint, but they actually have a significant impact on our environment. The amount of energy used to power data centers that store and transmit emails is enormous, and it is only growing as our reliance on digital communication increases.
- Individual actions can play a crucial role in reducing the environmental impact of emails. Therefore, we wanted to share with you a set of actions you can adopt in your day-to-day life to change your email footprint:
- Delete unnecessary emails: Go through your mailbox and delete any emails that you don't need or aren't important. This could include old newsletters, spam, and emails with large attachments.
- Compress attachments: If you have large attachments, you can compress them to reduce their size.
- Limit the size of emails you send: When sending emails, try to limit the size of attachments. This will not only reduce the size of your mailbox but also help ensure that your emails are delivered quickly and efficiently.
- Unsubscribe from unnecessary emails: Unsubscribe from newsletters and marketing emails that you no longer read or need.
- By being mindful of our email usage, we can help to reduce our carbon footprint and move towards a more sustainable future.
Why Sustainability Month?
Dassault Systèmes’ virtual twin universes enables all industries to achieve radically new products, materials and processes needed to create a more sustainable economy. Virtual twin experiences enable businesses to reconfigure their operations to make them more sustainable from the ground up with a great degree of predictability. This is what we refer to as Dassault Systèmes’ “handprint”: it is the positive sustainability impact we can have by deploying our sustainability solutions.
Indeed, if we want to prevent the worst impacts of climate change and environmental degradation, business as usual cannot continue. The linear “take–make–waste” model has pushed our planet’s resources to their limits and companies must rethink their product cycles from cradle to grave.
Even if we have a strong commitment to sustainability as a company, individual actions are also very important if we want to build a more sustainable world. Therefore, we want to use this opportunity to encourage everyone to take action to help us act on our individual footprint. Each and every one can make a difference, no matter how small the action may seem. Whether it is recycling, changing how we commute, or simply turning off the lights, every effort counts.
