Among the many uses of the Product Structure Editor is the ability to support design studies or alternative studies. To do this, we can utilize the ability to “branch” revisions into parallel and independent development streams for a discrete component, or an entire assembly. In the first scenario below, we will look at the simplest case of working with a discrete component. Here we want to set up a working environment for two design teams in the context of a Change Action to develop new designs independently.

In this second video, we will build on the first and offer the design teams the ability to work in context of the resulting end-item.

This last video summarizes the action of an approver who may be involved in the decision regarding which design alternative should go forward.
