Simulation is now helping designers create better designs earlier in the development process, while also reducing the time it takes to release a design. Subsequently it will continue to become more a part of the early design process than simply a validation tool. In the following scenario, I would like to look at a simple example of this in practice.
As I mentioned in my prior BLOG, we will look more and more at cross-brand scenarios (SIMULIA/ENOVIA) that blur the lines that formerly existed between different disciplines. Here, I would like to extend the previous concept by incorporating change management to formalize the design and related simulation of the design by using a Change Action (CA).
In the video, I use change management as illustrated above to formalize and manage both the design as well as the related simulation data. Note that the CA also acts as container that bundles not only the changes but also the related design and simulation data together. The Change Action will mature through the change states shown as the process moves forward. You may also note that the product is uniquely affected by the analysis in that the FEA mesh is added to the product structure in peer with the CAD shape.
