Engineering Item Context in Supplier Item Qualification (R2023x)

In R2023x GA, you can now view My Engineering Item and My Engineering Assembly from the My Engineering Item Context view on the home page of the Supplier Item Qualification app provided with the Supplier Item Manager role (XSP).

In previous releases, the view of Engineering Items and the Engineering Assembly were in separate views.  Now the two views are combined into a single view as shown below.

Also, you can view and qualify equivalent manufacturer equivalent items for an engineering item or its child items in a single view.

  • If an engineering item’s Procurement Intent is Make, you can expand the engineering item to its children.
  • If an engineering item’s Procurement Intent is Buy, the qualified manufacturer equivalent items display under the Sources node.

In the example below from the My Engineering Item Context view, we can expand the full ABC Product to view all levels of its children.  The engineering item Comp A is a Buy component under the Procurement Intent column.  Expanding the Sources node for Comp A, will display the Manufacturer Equivalent Item (MEI) for this component.  In this example, Comp A has two MEIs, one from Manufacturer Degussa and the other from Manufacturer Ikeda.

The Procurement Intent definition is taken from the Manufacturing Responsibility set in the engineering definition for that engineering item.  In this example, engineering item Comp A has a Manufacturing Responsibility set to Buy which informs Manufacturing that this component is a provided part.  This engineering definition information can be set using the Product Release Engineer (XEN) role as shown below.
