Compare – Some Improvements in Data Loading

With the Compare app, it is easy to identify differences among component geometry, structures and properties. By dragging and dropping objects of interest, comparison results will load automatically.

The Compare app has been enhanced in 21X FD06 release to allow users much more flexibility when selecting the data to compare.
As an improvement, the Compare app incorporates the landing page as already exist in other 3DEXPERIENCE applications and allows selecting saved filters as well as creating and comparing temporary filters based on different criteria.

There are several ways now to start the compare and load the data:

  1. Search objects from Compare home page
You can open content for compare by searching for the object in 3DSearch, and load it in Compare.
  2. Drag objects from another app or the search results
You can select the object to compare either from another app or search results. Than drag the desired object into Compare, in one of the following sections
    1. Open Content: Loads the object you selected (same as before)
    2. Open Revisions of Content: Lets you select another revision or duplicate of the object in the Revision Explorer.
    3. Open Content and Apply Filter: Lets you select or create a filter of the object. You can open a saved filter, create a new filter, or copy a filter from an existing one.

3. Start the comparison from another app with the Compare command
There are many applications in which the Compare command is available in the action bar (for example, Product Structure Editor). Simply select the objects you want to compare in the app and load it in compare by clicking Compare Structure in the action bar.

Select the data to compare with (in the right side of Compare app)

Then, you can select the data you wish to compare with. It can be an existing revision or duplication of the loaded data, existing or new filter applied on the loaded data, or any other data you search and select from 3DSearch or other application.

Several actions are available on the loaded objects on either side before running compare

When objects are already loaded in Compare, you can easily change it before performing another compare without the need to clean all and start from scratch. You can replace by revision or duplicate, apply a filter or even replace by another content from 3DSearch.

The attached video illustrates a sample use case of comparing different revisions of the same filtered product structure:
