The R2021x release of ENOVIA, introduced on April 25th, is a cloud-only release that delivers the following:
- Industry-focused and simplified portfolio
- A new compass
- Enhanced functionality
Industry-focused and Simplified Portfolio
The R2021x roles are valued not only as stand-alone roles, but also as part of the industry experience that they participate in (see below).
The same pre-requisites are now available for all roles, thus simplifying the portfolio.
New Roles:
Ten new roles are introduced in this release:

2 | Digital Mockup Review Engineer | Resolve issues faster by enabling real time collaborative digital mock-up reviews. Note/ Role previously managed in CATIA Portfolio (Design Review & Preparation) |
3 | Device 3D Synthesis Review Manager | Review and validate product 3D mock-ups across the value network on any device |
4 | Device 3D Synthesis Review Engineer | Resolve issues faster by enabling real time collaborative Digital Mock-up reviews |
5 | Device 3D Synthesis Validation Engineer | Validate virtual prototype & resolve issues faster by enabling formal management of the complete Digital Mock-up review process |
6 | Collaborative Designer for CATIA V5 | Enables CATIA V5 designers to securely collaborate on the model definition across distributed design teams to develop the common product definition |
7 | Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS | Enables SOLIDWORKS designers to securely collaborate on the model definition across distributed design teams to develop the common product definition |
8 | Collaborative Designer for NX | Enables NX designers to securely collaborate on the model definition across distributed design teams to develop the common product definition |
9 | Collaborative Designer for Creo Parametric | Enables Creo Parametric designers to securely collaborate on the model definition across distributed design teams to develop the common product definition |
10 | Conversion Data Integrator for 3DPDF | Export 3DEXPERIENCE products into 3DPDF formatted files for utilization in downstream processes |
Enhanced Scope of the “Collaborative Industry Innovator” role
Five apps have been added to this role to increase its value and scope:
- 3D Markup
- Change Action
- Issue 3D Review
- Project Execution
- Project Gantt
The New Compass:
The new compass of R2021x, that provides access to all roles and apps available for the users, has been enhanced with the ability to discover the entire 3DS solutions portfolio. The compass now works as a single button to access apps and is no longer sorted by quadrants.
Within the compass, you can navigate on 3 areas:

Reveal the roles and apps available to you
>> COMPANY:
Reveal the available roles of the company. This is where you can request new roles.
>> WORLD:
Provide the ability to discover the entire Dassault Systemes portfolio, such as:
- 3DEXPERIENCE Works
- 3DEXPERIENCE Education
- 3DEXPERIENCE Industries
- As mentioned earlier, the R2021x portfolio is industry-focused. Here you can navigate through each of the various industries, the industry solution experiences and their industry process experiences, and finally the roles available for these experiences.
Reminder:
- Industry Solution Experience: Describes how multiple people from various roles work together to solve an industry challenge
- Industry Process Experience: Contains one or more “Industry Process Experiences” and defines the specific process(es) performed by users and their roles
Enhanced Functionality:
In general, the release R2021x is functionally compatible with the R2020x FD01 release. Here are some of the major enhancements by discipline:
