V5 Arc Welding Macro Programming (AMP) is a template based robot trajectory and task generation toolkit. It allows organizations to create libraries of templates (Primitive files) that can be used to quickly and accurately generate very complex production robot programs. These templates can be reused in the same workcell or in any other V5 Arc Welding workcell, thus taking advantage of the efficiencies of reuse.
But what separates the V5 solution from other template based trajectory generation capabilities is the fact that these templates are generative and adaptive. A single template can be used, for example, on a simple straight seam and a very complex 3D curve shaped seam. Another key differenciator is the fact that a single primitive file can be used to create multiple welds all during one command execution. Imagine welding the four joints inside an enclosed box. Also imagine how many hours it would take to manually program the robot for this task including sensor and via points. With V5 AMP, four completely detailed welds (including tracking sensor, search, skip, and via points) along with the detailed robot program can be created with just a few button clicks! And the auto-generated robot program includes optimized track and/or workpiece postitioner axes positions as well as robot specific information such as weld process data.
In this blog, we have briefly reveiwed the basic concepts, capabiliies and value of V5 Arc Welding Macro Programming. In future posts, we will discuss this topic in much more detail. Including detailed "how-to" discussions on Primitive Creation. Please review these discussions and try it for yourself. Then let us know what you think!
