Teaching a Robot to be…Deceptive?

A recent article in Robotics Trends magazine (January 3, 2013) takes a new twist on robots. Straying from what many might consider the straight-forward teaching of tasks, it focuses on robots being taught to be deceptive. In other words, training it to provide a false communication to another robot in order to achieve a benefit.  This kind of cunning behavior can been seen in nature, the article points out, when a crafty squirrel pretends to bury its food while hiding the real location from other animals.
