when we are doing Discrete Event Simulation for a Plant that has many AGVs travelling across layout and many times a situation comes when certain rules need to be applied related to the Traffic management and collision avoidance between AGVs.

We have some nice features available in our OOTB solution in Factory Flow Simulation App that allows us to define Block and Release of specific zones in order to enable/disable the movement of AGVs from that point and do traffic management.

This Feature is used to mitigate issues related to Traffic Management, Collision Avoidance, unwanted Path blocking, optimizing routes & have capabilities to develop (kind of close to real) scenario development.

In the attached video, I have tried to show how we can manage three (3) AGVs travelling for deliveries at three different locations, here they all are crossing a common junction where there are high chances of Collision or caught up in an endless loop of waiting for Path clearance, with feature of "Block and Release" we can define a Flow Definition that simulates a scenario without above mentioned issues and have optimized results.

Advantages of implementing this is to get Optimized Throughput, AGV Sizing, Correct Resource utilization, Optimized routes definition for movement.
