Problem Definition
As shown in the slide:
- The user creates a Manufacturing BOM (MBOM) for both Plant A and Plant B. The Frame LH and RH are reused during the MBOM creation in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform (with the preference set to "Reuse from Database"). In this scenario, Frame assembly is also reused from database.
- While defining the first process plan for Plant A, the user defines the Frame Fitment Header operation activity under the workplan and creates work instruction views for this specific activity.
- Now, the user wants to reuse the same work instruction views previously created for Plant A while defining the process plan for Plant B.
By reusing these views, the user can save significant time in creating the process plan for Plant B.
How can work instructions be reused when the same parts are utilized in different workplans?
What approaches can be implemented to minimize redundant efforts in creating work instructions for identical parts?
Solution Definition:
To address this use case, we established a scope not only at the workplan level but also at the header operation level.
Storing Header Operations:
Header operations were stored in the library for reuse in the Plant B scenario.
Maintaining Work Instruction Views:
Work instruction views are maintained at the operation level for both Frame LH and Frame RH in Plant B as well.
Achieving Reusability Through Scope:
Work instruction views are always stored within a defined scope. To enable reusability, the scope must be maintained at the header operation level in addition to the workplan level.
By leveraging this approach, the user can efficiently reuse work instruction views and streamline the process planning for Plant B.
