Process Engineering-PPR

When we talk about the process design in Dassault Systemes’ solutions, we usually introduce the PPR model to customers. Here, we embody three words, starting with PPR, which are product\\process\\resources. They represent different meanings:

  • P represents Product, describes what the product is, and describes the hierarchical relationship of product structure and assembly;
  • The second P stands for process, which means process design. At this stage, we will define and balance the process content. It will describes the manufacturing process and the corresponding operation time;
  • R stands for Resources, it describes the manufacturing resource structure, about who will makes the product and what will the operator use, such as personnel, robots, tools, fixtures and other resources.

    The value is to form a structured process, which can enable us to carry out data verification and difference comparison, improve the efficiency of process review and design change review. So that we can select the best choice in different process solutions.

    On the other hand, we will say that our process design is three-dimensional and visual process design. We all know that traditional process design uses two-dimensional drawings and BOM tables for process design, which is inefficient and  will lead to a high error rate. In the slide, we can see that on the process tray, the product content related to each process will display the three-dimensional model for visualization.
