Outsourced & Planning Required Attributes Use-Cases

Hi everyone, it is my first time posting here. Thank you in advance.

I am trying to understand the use-cases of certain combinations of Outsource and Planning Required attributes on MBOM. I would like start by sharing my understanding. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  1. "Outsourced" attribute doesn't haven any effects on BL but can be used in certain cases when sending MBOM to ERP:
    1. If outsourced = yes, the child items of an assembly is not sent to ERP.
    2. If outsource = no, the child items of an assembly is sent to ERP.

  2. "Planning Required" attribute affects the way we consume the child items of the assembly.
    1. If planning required = yes, it means we wont consume the child items of the assembly in our process.
    2. If planning required = no, it means we will consume child items in our process.

Coming to the use-cases of both attributes:

"Planning Req= No , Outsourced= No" - Manufactured internally - Straightforward. ✔️

"Planning Req= Yes , Outsourced= No" - Manufactured internally but on a different site/process plan. ✔️

"Planning Req= No , Outsourced= Yes" -

"Planning Req= Yes , Outsource= Yes" - Subcontracting external manufacturer

Could you please elaborate these last two use-cases? Or am I thinking this the wrong way?
