Final Assembly: MBOM->Process Planning with Mfg. Installations

Are you wanting to model a "Final Assembly" manufacturing scenario and unclear on what is the guidance from the DELMIA Operations Engineering perspective?  Unclear on whether and how to leverage Mfg. Installations in this context?  This article is meant to provide some basic answers to this topic.

  • In the attached Powerpoint slides, you will see some basic points of information regarding Mfg. Installations.
  • Within the annotated ~15-minute demo video (annotated with callouts) you will see how to create and adjust a sequence of Mfg Installations starting from scratch, and then how to use this MBOM content to define a set of scoped Workplans for basic Process Planning of the Final Assembly process.
  • The attached 3DXML is the dataset used in the demo-video.  Everything in the Native Client demo is OOTB, no business rules or special settings.

NOTE:  There is a follow-on implication relative to ERP & MES integration when considering the use of Mfg. Installations.  On this topic, more discussion will be provided in an upcoming DCTF post which addresses this additional level of detail.  The key issue involves the need to manage *multiple* Workplans all contributing to content to the same/single higher-level "end-item" being produced, WITHOUT the use of any sort of "dummy" items for tracking intermediate installation work activity.
