Some new functionalities regarding manufacturing planning has been developed in V6R2012: Define premises(for one manufacturing system) and Premises Usage (in workload balancing interface)
Define Premises is composed of two sub functionalities:
- Define production demand (number of fully configured products you want to produce for one periode, could also be a combination of several ones)
- Define shift model ( number of hours worked during one periode, with associated occurences and allowance)
With a combination of these two input parameters applied on one manufacturing planning dataset(process and manufacturing sytem structure with balanced operations), the system can automatically compute the takt time and use it for workload balancing purpose.
So in the workload balancing interface in MSD you can now use the functionality Premises usage to check several combination production demands and shift models to compute the takt time, optimize the workload balancing and eventually set the default cycle time based based on computed takt time.
Here is a video illustrating this functionality on a simple dataset : DS seat assembly line planning
