In DELMIA V6 planning information (e.g. operation balancing, worker utilization) and 3D validation are tightly integrated, so you have the product buildup available anytime and everywhere. Hence taking the product build-up into account you can modify the planning data on-the-fly while doing the validation and on the other hand you could use the product build-up to create further data for detailed validations & simulations very fast.
After you have defined all the operations necessary to assemble the product and after you have linked the operations to manufactured products and to physical resources (like station, part bin, tool, fixture, worker, etc …) you will be able to dive into this unique 3D experience with the product build-up representing the heart of the experience.
The following list shows where this 3D experience uses the product buildup as a clamp to tighten planning and validation together:
- Product build-up in the tile view – Product build-up follows the balancing
- Cross-highlighting between operation and linked products & resources
- Play the sequence of the product build-up for each station
- Change operation sequence – product build-up follows immediately
- Select an operation to see appropriate product build-up
- Modify operation data (like time) in the context of the balancing and product build-up
- Balance model mix and validate product build-up sequence of two models simultaneously
- Balance operation in 3D – linked resources and product build-up follow
- Worker utilization in 3D
- Use product build-up for the design of new resources (e.g. fixtures and devices)
- Vision field of the worker makes use of product build-up
- Create and modify assembly tracks using the context of the product build-up
- Create and modify human tasks using the context of the product build-up
- Simulate the assembly line using the product build-up
The attached video illustrates some of these topics and it should give you a good insight how this 3D experience works.
I used in the video data from automotive industry, but this 3D experience also works for other industries where you must plan and validate the assembly of a product, like in Aerospace, Industrial Equipment or High-Tech industry.
So maybe this 3D experience will arouse your curiosity and you want to further investigate and have a closer look at V6?
