Maintenance with DELMIA Apriso in Manufacturing world!

Maintenance is one of the crucial activities in the context of manufacturing. Traditional maintenance strategies cannot cut it in today’s fast-paced world. An example of traditional maintenance could be “Breakdown Maintenance”, meaning - maintenance is done only when a machine breaks down.

Unfortunately, breakdowns occur only when a machine is in operation, resulting in disrupted schedules, excess inventory, and delayed deliveries. In addition, lack of proper maintenance results in wear and poor performance. For a process to continue to produce the required quality, machinery must be maintained in excellent condition.

This can best be achieved through a program of preventive maintenance. This is important for more reasons than just quality. If a machine breaks down, it will quickly affect other work centers. Preventive maintenance starts with daily inspections, lubrication, and cleanup. Since operators usually understand how their equipment should “feel” better than anyone else, it makes more sense to have them handle this type of regular maintenance.

With DELMIA Apriso, we strive to provide our customers something called "Total Productive Maintenance". "Total Productive Maintenance" is preventive maintenance plus continuing efforts to adapt, modify and refine equipments to increase flexibility, reduce material handling and promote continuous flow. This is something, of course, in addition to the traditional "Reactive/ Breakdown Maintenance" and “Offline Maintenance”.

DELMIA Apriso’s Maintenance module is a modular application which is designed to:

1) Monitor, Manage and Synchronize Maintenance activities with all related Operations throughout the manufacturing process

2) Provide solution to track, analyze, and improve equipment, line or plant downtime and OEE

3) Optimize overall asset utilization by collecting and providing accurate data related to downtime events

4) Reduce capital expenditures by identifying the most productive assets for continued operation

5) Increase the capacity using the existing assets by identifying the cause of unplanned downtime

6) Reduce production cost by lowering labor costs (overtime), scrap and rework
