Global Manufacturing Suite - Center Of Excellence #10 – Conclusions

GlobalManufacturigSuite COE

As I wrote in the first post of these series, the subject of Center Of Excellence and managing the global deployment of Manufacturing Operations Management solution is very broad.

All of the topics fall under the categories listed below

There are many commonalities, which I tried to outline in this series of articles. I have spent hours discussing  with customers all those topics over last years, and none of the two discussions were the same, they shared the same principles but details were always specific to customer and his way of working.

This was result of multiple factors:

  • Your number of sites
  • Their similarity
  • Your overall size of organization
  • Centralized vs decentralized decision making
  • Having corporate Business Process teams (or not)
  • Your approach to IT (in-house or outsourced)
  • Dynamics of your production processes evolution (new products, new ways of working)
  • … and many others

Anyway, there is one thing to remember – your solution cannot stop evolving and stay as designed on the first deployment. Unless you plan to produce same product in same way for eternity, but that rarely happens in today world.

Second thing is – you want to run CORE Model on multiple plants:

  • share best practices,
  • assure common methods
  • maintain quality worldwide
  • produce anywhere (close to your customers)

Hence, you cannot allow your precious CORE Model to become X plant based solutions, so you need to keep it harmonized.

I hope these series of posts were interesting, it summarizes number year of DELMIA experience working with multiple customers that rolled out 7, 10, 20+ sites. All of them faced some individual challenges, many of them faced similar (which I hope I have indicated on at least very high level). All of them found their own way that fits them how to do things. There is no “one size fits all” but definitely, everyone can pick something from another, and improve how he does things. To do that, I encourage you to utilize either this community, or any of our events where you can meet within our customer base and exchange.

If you are interested in some more details regarding any of those topics, please reach to your account teams, and for sure they will organize for you a session or a workshop where you will able to deep dive with them.
