xGD & GGR FD01 R2024x What's New ?

Hi community,

Next week, the FD01 update for the R2024x will be live on cloud environments, with a lot of enhancements for CATIA Visual Scripting and xGenerative Design. We are waiting your feedback and stay connected for next communication update.

Dropdown Operator

The new Dropdown operator allows to use a list as input and provides a combox box to let you select an option. It's also possible to apply the same option selection on any additional list of items. When defined as a controller, the list built with the operator is retrievable in the Experiment panel. The operator is available in the Control category of the Operators library.

Benefits: Simplify your design exploration with a more explicit interface menu to manage options of the design sequence.

Using the Shortcut Toolbar

When you select an object in the tree or in the 3D, a shortcut toolbar now provides the following commands: Display, Hide, and Delete.

Benefits: Improve your productivity and speed-up your design process with standard commands directly accessible from 3D  selection.

Accessing Optional Inputs

In the editor, you can now display the optional inputs of an operator that are hidden by default.

Benefits: Simplify your learning process and discover additional options with a progressive disclosure interface.

Forcing the Update of your Design Sequence (native apps)

The new Force Update command cleans all the results of a Design Sequence and forces the update from scratch.

Benefits: Improve your productivity and speed-up your design process with improvements on the user interface.

Upgrading your design sequence (native apps)

You can use the Upgrade command to ensure your Design Sequence is up-to-date with the latest version of the application. After an upgrade, an update is automatically performed. The update can fix some errors and may impact the results of design sequence.

Benefits: Control the upgrade of design sequence to reach latest enhancements and corrections or keep current version of it.

New and enhanced operators

The functional scope of the application is enriched by new and enhanced operators.

Benefits: Extend your functional capabilities to address additional designs and engineering use cases.

The new operators are:

  • In the Geometry category: Axis System to Elements, Point Neighbours by Radius.
  • In the List category: Indices.
  • In the Maths category: Scale Numbers.
  • In the Mesh category: Add Loop, Digitized Object to Mesh, Mesh Domains, Mesh Primitives.
  • In the Measure category: Surface Curvature.
  • In the Tools category: Get Types.
  • In the Text category: Format Number.
  • The enhanced operators are:
  • In the Geometry category: Curve Smooth.
  • In the List category: Remove Empty, Remove Error, Remove Item, and Remove Index.
  • In the Measure category: Curvature.
  • In the Mesh category: Mesher.

Accessing the Parameters of a Design Sequence in Enterprise Knowledge Language (native apps)

The parameters of the Design Sequence feature are now exposed in the DesignSequence type. You can read and modify the attributes of this new type using the Enterprise Knowledge Language.

Benefits:  functional capabilities are extended to address additional and advanced design & engineering usecases by driving design sequence with EKL scripts.

Mesh Softbody Solver Improvements

The Mesh Softbody solver is enhanced and provides better realistic results with less computation time. For design sequences created before this update, you will have to "upgrade" them (command from contextual menu) to take benefit of these enhancements.

Benefits: Obtain more predictable results with better performances for advanced form finding with softbody behaviors.

Concept Structure Engineering Advanced Operators (BETA, CATIA Visual Scripting only)

New operators are provided to let you manage Concept Structure Engineering properties in a design sequence (such as layers, stacking and connections management).

Benefits: Bring automation to Concept Structure Engineering with an algorithmic design approach

Important: Working with the Concept Structure operators requires the Concept Structure Engineering app to be granted and installed.
