In the previous post, I was trying to explain my way to set the base grid of cells: the pattern of hexagons on the torus.
In this post, I will describe the modeling of the "adjustable" Truchet base cell that is patterned around the torus. It gives the impression of 3 intricated/woven hexagonal network.
The base cell is made of distinct curves (they don't touch each other): 2 central stars and 1 curve turning around the cell.
Video1 and 2 is about the turning curve
Video3 and 4 are about the 1st star
Video 5 and 6 are about the 2nd star
I made some mistakes during the modeling of the 3rd star, but the video is uncut so that you see how I recovered. it could be interesting also (maybe)
if you don't need transition effect between cells, current modeling strategy is OK: Truchet tile only. But I wanted to add a transition effect, smooth along the torus. and for this, I need to get access to each of the hexagon networks. There are 3 networks...in this case, I don't think my modeling is optimum, but I did not have enough courage to start from beginning.
this is for the next post.
sorry long videos, let me know if too long.
