In a research collaboration between Dassault Systems (CATIA), Montreal ETS (École de technologie supérieure), EstimCAD is proud to present the latest achievement in generative design for the outdoor industry. A few months ago, we started this project not knowing if we could achieve something of this level. A big thank you to CATIA, our ETS students who worked hard with the help of Dassault Systems who was always there to support us. This would not have been possible without the great work and collaboration of @EB, @FD and @WA from Dassault Systems and also to @AA and Ivanka Iordanova from the ETS.
This was achieved in two steps as shown in the videos below.
The first step was to be able to create a form using customer constraints that generated the deck and its basic components.
The second step was to generate a space that manages the inner space within the total area depending on the costumer user case and certain pre-established constraints, generating the total Deck area needed including the circulation areas.
We are also pleased to announce that the ETS is proposing a second study project in 2025, one of the goals of which would be to connect the proof of concept done with CATIA in 2024 with SOLIDWORKS.
Gratitude is extended to all participants in this thrilling initiative, which will enable us to contribute to the democratization of CATIA and SOLIDWORKS usage within the residential construction sector.
