I am Manohar Prabhu. I live in Berlin with my wife and two kids. I am part of CATIA Mechanical IPS. Here is a short account of my academic and professional career.

Born in India I was not what you call an academic achiever. What inspired me was not words in the textbooks but hands-on stuff. This curiosity about how things work and the joy that working hands-on led me to pursue Mechanical Engineering. Studying what I enjoyed was what changed my academic persistence from having always been an average student to being ranked amongst the top 10 students out of 670 at the university bachelor’s degree.

After my Bachelor’s in 1997 and a short time working as a piping design engineer with Tata Consulting Engineers in Mumbai I went on to pursue my Masters in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi. I was awarded a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Program (DAAD) to continue the Masters project at the Technical University of Berlin. After finishing Masters in year 2000, I started working at SFE GmbH, a small company with just over 15 employees that provided unique and innovative engineering software solutions for parametric modelling and simulation (MODSIM). I spent my early years at SFE travelling frequently worldwide acquiring new customers and projects at the automotive OEMs. In 2010 I was the VP for the North American business for SFE. In 2013 after SFE’s acquisition by Dassault Systemes I was the Managing Director. By 2015 we had successfully integrated SFE GmbH in Dassault Systemes. In the recent years I was responsible for sales of the CATIA SFE portfolio with worldwide scope. In my present position I together with my team make sure that our colleagues from the brand and channel sales around the globe get the right level of support to position futuristic solutions for modeling and simulation (MODSIM) in conceptual engineering at various customers and prospects.  

An important learning from my career has been that CHANGE is the only CONSTANT in life and this is what everyone should bear in mind and EMBRACE the change to EXCEL
