Some insights from Tag des Systems Engineering 2024 in Leipzig (13.-15.11.)

Last week, from November 12th to 15th, we had the opportunity to participate in the Tag des Systems Engineering in Leipzig

A quick heads-up around this event for context: The "Tag des Systems Engineering" (TdSE) is the leading conference for systems engineering in the German-speaking region. It’s a key event that brings together professionals, decision-makers, and experts from various sectors, including industry, research, and services. For those of us in the MBSE field, it’s THE most important external event of the year.

This year, as the event's Titan Sponsor, we had a strong presence throughout the entire event, with various presentations and dedicated content at our booth that resonated well with attendees and led to valuable interactions.

We kicked off the first day with @YH and @AS leading our Tool Vendor Session, showcasing how Product Line Engineering (PLE) fits into the Product Lifecycle—from Requirements and System Architecture to E/E and Domain Architectures. The session generated great discussions and valuable feedback from the audience. Special thanks to our working students, @EM and @TK, for their excellent contributions to this project!

We also showcased a presentation by our colleague, @TK, in which he discussed the importance of the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) for lifecycle process modeling and effective configuration management. His talk was well-received and was followed by in-depth discussions at our booth.

Over the three days, our booth became a hub for engaging conversations with customers, partners, and academia, focusing on the latest developments in our MBSE portfolio. The most discussed topics included AI & MBSE, PLE, traceability from requirements to test cases on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, and, of course, SysML v2!

This year, we were able to share more insights into the implementation of SysML v2 in our CATIA Magic tool. It was interesting to hear our customers' first impressions, which were quite positive, with many appreciating the increased flexibility in modeling and the improved user interface.

@MA and I also presented the early prototype of the SysEng Navigator, our joint project with Deloitte and Aleph Alpha focused on integrating AI into systems engineering activities. While still in its early stages, it served as a great conversation starter and provided valuable feedback from systems engineers on their expectations for AI-assisted modeling. It was interesting to receive a wide range of feedback on this topic, from pure excitement to constructive, critical feedback, which is exactly what we need for the upcoming development stages of our prototype.

We are looking forward to the TdSE in 2025 in Austria!
