Reliable testing methods are key for robust and reliable software development, including Modelica models. With every change or addition to a model or used libraries, unwanted side effects might be introduced which can lead to new results. Instead of relying on changelogs, use your own tests to get confident that everything behaves as it should.

Did you know that Dymola is equipped with everything you need to perform unit tests on Modelica models, both locally and on build automation servers? It ships with the Testing library, which was designed to test all kinds of Modelica classes.

In this masterclass we show you the Testing library's capabilities and how to use it. We will create tests in Dymola and demonstrate the various possibilities to check result values and trajectories. Next, we will run the tests, first individually inside Dymola, then automated with PowerShell scripts. From there it's only a small step to check for regressions with Jenkins, GitlabCI, etc.
