a couple of years ago, I have been working a lot with NoMagic tools like MagicDraw and Cameo for systems and software engineering. Unfortunately, in the last couple of years I have been on projects using SPARX EA exclusively. With the acquisition of NoMagic by Dassault and shift to CATIA, I have lost track of the history of this tool suite.

Specifically:

• Are current CATIA MBSE tools still founded on the NoMagic code base?
• If so, why are the NoMagic products still mentioned separately on the web site?
• How do CATIA software suites relate to former NoMagic products?
• Is the feature set of the tools additive, i.e. do tools supporting architecture frameworks like DoDAF, NAF, UAF etc. also support the full SysML range of modeling capabilities, and do those in turn support full UML modelling capabilities?
