Excited to share that my colleague @MN and I recently delivered a visionary keynote at the Engineering Process Day 2023, focusing on the critical topic of integrating sustainability throughout the entire development process
The integration of sustainability is paramount for creating a positive impact on the environment, society, and the economy. However, current efforts often fall short in achieving comprehensive integration. That's why we issued a compelling call for change, highlighting the crucial importance of aligning sustainability from enterprise vision to operationalization of a feasible plan. Systems engineering is the way forward to create consistency, starting from the enterprise goals and Systems of system architecture down to the component level.
Our keynote addressed two fundamental questions ❓
- How can adopting a System of Systems (SoS) approach help us effectively integrate and operationalize strategic sustainability objectives?
By utilizing this approach, we can ensure that sustainability goals guide every stage of development, from ideation to disposal and second/third life. It fosters a holistic and cohesive approach towards sustainable enterprise growth.
- How do we ensure that sustainability objectives influence every level of the development process, starting from the SoS, down to System, Subsystem, and component level?
We explored methodologies and frameworks to ensure that sustainability is seamlessly integrated at each step, resulting in tangible and measurable outcomes.
