3DS & CATIA @ CSD&M 2022 Complex Systems Design & Management conference

CSD&M 2022 (Complex Systems Design & Management) conference will take place next week in Paris on December, 15 &16.
This event, organized by CESAM Community is dedicated to academic researchers, industrial and governmental actors who are interested in complex industrial systems engineering. Dassault Systèmes will be present as a partner of this event, with a dedicated booth and dedicated sessions

On Day 1 - December 15

Extending Model-Based Systems Engineering with Requirements-In-the-Loop Simulation: The Landing Gears Case-Study  @FG

Simulation has been a key factor of the massive adoption by most industries of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model-Based Design (MBD) tools. Meanwhile, practical Requirements Engineering tools have not significantly evolved beyond the lifecycle management of document-centric specifications, leaving requirements aside from model-based simulation tools. Requirements-In-the-Loop (RIL) simulation has been proposed to extend MBSE and MBD frameworks with textual yet formal and executable requirements models. RIL simulation allows generating discrete-time systems behaviors based on the requirements semantics as well as to check that other behavioral models like state machines comply with systems requirements. This paper introduces the principles of Requirements-In-the-Loop simulation and illustrates its benefits on the Landing Gears case study. Especially, this work demonstrates the ability of the Stimulus tool to detect incorrect, missing or conflicting requirements of a realistic system and to test its model-based specification against requirements.

On Day 2 - December 16

10:30 - Systems Engineering Digital Thread – An end-to-end holistic approach from Mission to Physical @GF, @AD, @PB

Megatrends of the INCOSE vision 2035 are the explosion of system complexity due to new technologies as well as increasing demand for greater systems capability and efficiency. It predicts also the proliferation of smart systems, meaning systems that are more intelligent, more resilient and more connected. In this context, it is mandatory to break the silos and accelerate stakeholders (value network, disciplines) convergence. Therefore, digital continuity from System of Systems to Physical are critical topics to engineer efficiently systems of tomorrow. After presenting the challenges, this paper highlights the importance of switching from a document based to a model/simulation-based approach with support of adequate methodology like CESAM and Cyber MagicGrid. End-to-end example illustrates the overall process. As a conclusion, the paper opens other digital thread perspective to cover a complete system lifecycle.

14:00 - From Product to Cyber Systems Experience
@OS , CATIA CEO

The world we live in is a system of systems, where smarter and sophisticated products are connected together to enable new Customers & End-Users Experiences., To deliver these innovations and take into account environmental transformation imperative, sustainability has to be taken into account with a systemic approach. Companies must reinvent new business models, services & products, like Automotive industry shifting from selling cars to operating mobility as a service. In this session, we will see how Cyber Systems approach is a key enabler to deliver these sustainable and resilient enterprises, products and services, leveraging Virtual Twin Experiences.
