Running Chemistry Direct on AWS RDS

I was wondering if anyone knows if Chemistry Direct is available on Oracle instances running on the Amazon RDS service, or if there are plans to get it approved for this with Amazon Web Services?

We’ve always run our Chemistry Direct in Oracle DBs we manage on AWS EC2 servers, however being able to run it on RDS instead would give at a lot of advantages.

Unfortunately, as it requires OS and Oracle admin access the install of the cartridge (neither of which you have on AWS RDS) it’s not something you can do and would require AWS to approve and implement it.

However recently found out that RDKit is now available on RDS (Postgres). Apparently AWS approached the RDkit developers after they received multiple requests from customers to have RDKit as a supported option within RDS and I also see JChem now works on AWS RDS as well. This suggest some route to getting third party plugins approved.

I can't find anything about Direct being available, but given the number of companies that use Chemistry Direct I'm fairly sure there would be interest in this.

Thanks

Joe
