As a fellow Pipeline Pilot enthusiast, I can’t tell you how excited I am that we are going to be having a Pipeline Pilot-based Hackathon this year. Because of its versatility, I think Pipeline Pilot is the perfect platform for a Hackathon.
And with that, I’m excited to announce that we will be having a Bioinformatics-themed challenge at the Hackathon. This challenge consists of 5 different problems, each problem getting a bit more difficult than the first. The fun starts with a simple Motif finding problem to get you warmed up. Subsequent problems get progressively more difficult and will explore different topics such as Gene Finding, RNA Expression Analysis, Metagenomics, and encoding non-biological data using DNA.
You and your team will need to work on each problem together as the solution to each problem produces the “key” to unlock the next problem. Once you’ve solved all of problems, you will be asked to make a dashboard displaying your results and how you came to each answer.
I hope you will be able to make it to the Hackathon, either in Boston (October 24th) or in Brussels (November 14th). Hope to see you there!
