I presented a summary of the new capabilities that we added to the 2021 releases of Biological and Chemical Registration at the BIOVIA Conference back in September. I thought it would be useful to summarize this information in the community for those of you that didn't manage to attend the meeting. 2021 was released at the end of last year (Dec 2020). I'll follow up with an update on the 2022 releases in due course.
Web Client Updates:
Registration forms load much faster due to the use of client-side metadata caching.
Power users can optionally bypass the pre-registration check (the dialog that appears to explain what the outcome of registration will be if executed). This can help to reduce the time that individual registrations can take.
The Register Another workflow now carries over file attachments from the previous record, so you no longer need to find or download them again before registering an additional lot.
The Recent Activity grids on the Biological and Chemical Registration home pages can now show dates in your local time zone and format.
Completed preview jobs in Chemical Registration can be resumed from the View Recent Submissions page.
Manually stopped Chemical Registration jobs can be resumed from the View Recent Submissions Page.
Faster form loading: This chart shows the impact that client-side metadata caching has on the speed that forms render for all subsequent requests (the caches are populated the first time a form is requested). In testing we found that forms loaded up to 23x faster than before!
This change makes the web client much more responsive for all users!
Show dates in your time zone and format: Here we are using the Configure Data Format parameter available in the Pipeline Pilot Admin Portal to enforce our chosen date and time zone format on dates displayed for recently viewed records on the Chemical Registration home page. This works in Biological Registration too!
Resume jobs: This shows how the Stop and Resume controls available on the View Recent Submissions page in Chemical registration can be used to resume preview and manually stopped jobs without needing to set them up from the beginning or work out where a job stopped in order to restart it.
Administration Improvements:A Migration Writer component is now available as a utility component to help with the rapid loading of registration records from other systems. This makes it easier for you to add additional records to Chemical Registration from other systems such as those that you may have acquired through a company acquisition or merger, for example.
Share SD file mappings: A set of utility protocols have been provided to enable you to share existing SD file mappings with other users in Chemical Registration. This could be useful if, for example you have a user that leaves that owns a large number of mappings. Using these new tools, you can now make these available to others without needing to recreate them.
Other Improvements
As with all Registration releases, 2021 provided updated support for the latest BIOVIA 2021 releases including BIOVIA Workbook, BIOVIA Notebook, BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot, BIOVIA Draw and BIOVIA Direct. Support for the latest version of ChemDraw (19.x at the time of release) was also provided.
For a detailed summary of all of the updates to the 2021 releases, take a look at the Product Release Documents for each release available from the Dassault Systèmes Downloads page (link).
I'll post a couple of additional videos in separate posts to highlight some of the other improvements included in the release.
