Pre-COP 26: Climate Change, biodiversity and nutrition: promoting healthy diets from efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable food systems


The Food and Nutrition Division and the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), together with the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (GACSA) and the Scaling up Nutrition Movement will host the Climate Change and Nutrition side event at Pre-COP 26.

The 90-minute virtual dialogue will bring together food systems experts and leaders—including policy research institutions, universities, farmer organizations, private sector, agricultural financiers, civil society, policymakers, oversight bodies, and the media—to explore opportunities for collaborative partnerships.

The event will focus on the most salient transformations in the food systems to address environmental, socio-economic and nutrition challenges.

The event is structured 90-minute discussion will start with opening remarks and an overview of the nexus of climate change, biodiversity and nutrition and the need for solutions that impact on all three dimensions. The plenary will be followed by five breakout rooms, each of them introducing a specific innovation or innovative approach that is able to concurrently address concerns related to climate change, biodiversity and nutrition.
