ALL IN BLUE | Global Autism Awareness Day

Today, 1 in 68 children is born with autism spectrum disorders and the UN estimates 0.6% of the world’s population.

Autism spectrum disorder is characterized mainly by early neurodevelopmental disorders, difficulties in communicating but also difficulties in social interactions. Disorders that require understanding, guidance and adaptation. Even if understanding and support improve day by day, there is still a lot of progress to be made. In 2007, the United Nations approved resolution 62/139, declaring April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day.

Since then, every April 2 events have taken place around the world to help understand autism. In honour of this day, a movement was also created: ALL IN BLUE. “Although autism disorders are increasingly understood by the scientific community, the medical community and health care providers, they remain largely unknown,” said Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General in 2011, saying that this Day offered an opportunity to “the possibility of mobilizing forces to act and help”.

 Why Blue color symbolizes autism?

It is a color that brings calm and comfort, two qualities that people with autism need to be most serene and confident. In addition, "this color symbolizes DREAM and LIFE, because it is soft and soothing, and seems appreciated by autistic people who often experience sensory disorders",

For the design and support side, the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab is very proud to highlight the collaboration we had with APF and Leka. Who is LEKA? Leka’s mission is to help exceptional children live exceptional lives. Their first product, Leka, is a cute spherical intelligent toy to help stimulate children with special needs.
