New Version of 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Eligibility Checker tool is available following R2024x FD04 upgrade

The 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Eligibility Tool is a tool to automate Dassault Systèmes prerequisite checks on your machine to optimize your 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the Cloud experience.

See this previous article for earlier improvement.

Version 1.6.05 is available for download here.

The upgrade for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the Cloud to the 3DEXPERIENCE R2024x FD04 level is now completed.

In line with this upgrade, a new version of the 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Eligibility Tool is also released to take into account the changes pertaining to this level.

This new and updated version of the tool includes a couple of improvements as well as a few changes. A brief summary of all the important changes done during this upgrade is highlighted below:

Changes in Hardware and Software Configurations:

New Certified Workstations:

>> In recent times, multiple workstations has been certified by the Dassault Systèmes for supporting the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the Cloud. All of these workstations are updated into Certified Workstations List for 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the Cloud and the Cloud Eligibility Checker tool does take this changes into account in Hardware and Software Configurations check as per below

UI Changes in result:

All checks related to the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher have been consolidated under a single check titled "3DEXPERIENCE Launcher Configuration Check." This new configuration check encompasses a total of six individual pre-existing checks that ensure the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher is functioning optimally. Below is a list of these checks:

  1. Proxy Configuration: Ensures that the proxy settings are correctly configured for the launcher to communicate effectively with all native apps.
  2. Internet options setup: Verifies that the system’s internet options are properly set to allow smooth operation of the launcher
  3. Access to Download Links: Helps user to access and download native app, specifically for China Mainland Geolocation.
  4. Port Configuration: Ensures that the required network ports are open and correctly configured to facilitate communication between 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher and 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the Cloud.
  5. Firewall Setup: Ensures that the windows firewall is configured to allow 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs.
  6. Antivirus Setup: Verifies that the SentinelOne or SonicWall antiviruses are not blocking the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs.

This change will providing a streamlined view to ensure all necessary prerequisites are met for optimal launcher performance of 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher. Please see the screenshot below for a sample preview of these changes:

As you can see, two new checks have been added: Firewall Setup and Antivirus Setup. More details about these new checks are provided below.

Firewall Setup:

The Firewall setup check is introduced in Cloud Eligibility Checker (v1.6.05) to prevent the "Unable to get install data" error that occurs when users attempt to launch any native apps from the 3DCompass. The probable root cause of this error could be windows firewall outbound rules, which may block communication between the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher and the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the cloud.

Workflow:

When Windows Firewall is enabled on the user's system, the Cloud Eligibility Checker (v1.6.05) will scan all outbound firewall rules to determine if there are any blocking rules created for the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs. If blocking rules are detected, then user will be guided through the resolution steps provided in QA00000103253, and the result will be displayed as shown below:

If Windows Firewall is disabled, or no outbound rules are blocking the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs, user will see the results as shown below:

Antivirus Setup:

The Antivirus setup check is introduced in Cloud Eligibility Checker (v1.6.05) to prevent the "Unable to get install data" error that occurs when users attempt to launch any native apps from the 3DCompass. This check addresses the same error as the Firewall Setup check does, but here the likely root cause is the configuration of the antivirus software on the user's machine.

Workflow:

When user has either of SentinelOne or SonicWall antivirus products installed on their system, then only this check will be triggered else it will be skipped. During the analysis, all Windows error logs from the last 30 days will be scanned to identify any error logs related to 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher programs. If such error logs are found, then user will be guided through the resolution steps provided in QA00000103253, and the result will be displayed as shown below:

If the issue is resolved and the user wishes to rerun the check, then they can execute the Cloud Eligibility Checker from the command line (CMD) using the "-a" option, which will allows them to specify the number of days for scanning Windows error logs, as shown below:

And if error logs are not available for specific period of time then result will be displayed as shown below:

Moreover, the usual changes related to the Upgrade have also been done in the tool. To name a few, the support for browser versions is streamlined as per the current stable release, the list of supported levels for 3DEXPERIENCE Open Software has been accordingly revised as per the newly introduced levels and so on… for better understandings of the check.

Hope that the above changes implemented in the tool prove useful for you and help you work serenely.

To stay up to date with the brand new updates, it is very much essential to download the latest version of the Cloud Eligibility Tool each time.

So go on then, download this upgraded version and check if you are Cloud Ready!
