What do you think this tire is rolling through?
We'll give you a hint... we hope this car has winter tires. 🥶
The animation on the left shows a co-simulation between Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit. The tire, wheel, and snow are modeled in Abaqus/Explicit. The simple shock model is in Abaqus/Standard. The animation on the right shows the creation of the tire track in the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian region. This example could be extended to include a much more elaborate suspension system. For example, the top of the shock could be a substructure representing a portion of the vehicle.
Thank you Randy Marlow for another excellent simulation!
