We are pleased to announce that our 3DEXPERIENCE platform will be updated to FD01 on 12th March (Estimated between 3:00-18:00 Paris time). You will have a 30days grace period to install the update. It is recommended to update at your earliest.

Below is a list of few key updates in FD01, that may be of interest to you.
xDesign
Convert Inserted Picture into a 2D Sketch
You can now convert an inserted picture into a 2D Sketch, and refine it or create sketch based features with it.
Benefits: It is now easier to give a 3D model form to your concept drawings.
You may have an image of a 2D drawing you made, for conceptualizing your ideas and projects. You can now insert this into xDesign, and convert it into a sketch. Then you can use this sketch to create further features, to evolve your idea or project into a 3D Model.
Create Parameters and define their values
You can now define or constrain parameters by relations. Parameters can be used as the arguments of a relation.
Benefits: It is now possible to drive your 3D model’s dimensions by relations. (For example: If the width of a block should be half of its length (W=L/2), you can specify this relation to drive the value of W. So when you specify L=100, then W=50 will be calculated and applied automatically.)
xDefine
We now have a 2D Drawing app, on the cloud! No installation required.
This much-requested new functionality fuses 3D drawings with 2D drawings, giving
our students the best of both worlds.
-Add 2D views on a Drawing Sheet.
-Single source of truth between 3D and 2D. Auto Update 2D views after modification
in 3D geometry.
-Format the Drawing Sheet
-Export as PDF
Benefits: xDefine meets many of the core workflows taught in your curriculum.
Works on a web browser. Did you wish to manufacture prototypes of the products emanating from your ideas? Now you may create and share the drawings of it, and better communicate the manufacturing specifications!
3DPlay
Enhancements for ease of use and compatibility
View files like 3DXML and PDF directly by Drag&Drop from desktop in 3DPlay and then decide to upload content in 3DDrive or 3DSwym etc.
When displaying a PDF document, two new commands, Page by Page Scrolling and Continuous Scrolling are now available in the View section of the action bar.
The list of supported formats in 3DPlay is enriched, to make 3DPlay the application essential to read a document. Office files PowerPoint®, Excel®, Word® hosted by 3DSpace can now be visualized in 3DPlay.
Benefits: Now the 3DPlay app is more versatile, and can open your important documents, learning content, 3DXML 3D Models quickly in your web browser on any device. Improve your productivity by placing the 3DPlay app in your Dashboard, if you haven’t yet!
Assembly Design
Insert components directly from PartSupply.
Now you can seamlessly insert components into your products directly from PartSupply.
PartSupply is a comprehensive catalog of 3D Components (integrated with CATIA and SOLIDWORKS) with over 60Million qualified component configurations- download, compare, or refine.
Benefits: Components from various categories like electrical, Mechanics, fluid systems, manufacturing, etc. available in the PartSupply database can be searched, and quickly inserted into your product. Don’t spend time modeling standard existing components.
