3DEXPERIENCE cloud R2024x Golden update-
After update arrives on 2nd Dec 2023, ❗ Immediate installation needed before using 3DEXPERIENCE platform
As we are moving from R2023x to R2024x, the Update needs to be immediately installed before using the Native apps. (There is no grace period of 4 weeks to complete the installation later, as possible for FDs.)
Change in Update Installation Process:
We will have a mandatory installation component introduced in R2024x GA called "Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF)".
What will be the change in update process for users?
The Installation sequence will be: 1. Install Launcher 2. Install "Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF)" component 3. Install Native Apps
For Individual users:
Installation of CEF is available by clicking on compass and app, and installed as mandatory component at first use (and later when update is available).
For Platform Administrators, bulk installation or script based installation:
CEF installer media will be displayed in Platform Management in the "Configure Apps Installation" Tab.
This media can be downloaded and used for installation as needed. Keep watching the community for "Sample Script".

More About CEF:
Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) ever-green (could be translated as “always up to date”) is a third-party component used to make some features possible (Web in Win) inside the 3DEXPERIENCE rich client (Like Compass, 6w Tag..).
Before R2024x GA, CEF component was included in the Native Apps installation, but starting from R2024x, part of this component is separated from the Native Apps installation, because users were required to perform full Native installation whenever updates or patches were necessary on this component.
CEF can have the security updates without necessitating 3DEXPERIENCE updates.
